Acceptance

I wrote here almost two months ago about my nerves on being accepted to grad school at George Mason. Well, after several agonizing weeks of waiting for my decision to arrive in the mail, it finally showed up. Will called while I was still at work to let me know I had a letter from a guy named George waiting for me at home. It had been one of those weeks at work, and I was already really stressed out. When I got home and was ready to open it, I forewarned him that there was no way I could handle rejection in my already emotional state.

Luckily, it wasn't a rejection.

It was a huge relief to know that even though I'd placed all my eggs in one basket, everything was going to work out just fine. (I was going to make a joke about a chicken hatching or something, but that just sounded weird.) So, in August I'll start my four semester long program and dedicate more than every other weekend for 15 months straight to earning my masters degree.

That was pretty awesome. Then I got a letter in the mail today saying that I'd been awarded a scholarship for nearly half of my total tuition. And I nearly fell off the couch.

So, while the committment may be killer, Will and I are only going to be on the hook for a small amount of my total tuition bill. That's a huge help since we'll hopefully be looking to buy the doggies a yard (with a house attached) next year.

I'm breathing a little easier now. Thank goodness.
