Without a Back-up Plan

When I was a junior in high school, I began looking at colleges. I had received mailings from every conceivable school in the midwest and a few from farther away (Colorado School of Mines, anyone?). I visited three schools, and only considered two seriously. When it came down to it, I applied to one and didn't even consider not getting in. To be honest, it wasn't really a gamble given Iowa gave you a formula that equaled guaranteed admission.

I submitted my grad school application yesterday to George Mason. Again, without a back-up. This time, however, there's no guarantee that I'll get in.

Yikes.

To be honest, I'm fairly confident that I'll get in. I'm less confident they'll provide me with any merit based scholarship to help cover the cost of tuition. Luckily for me, I have a company who is pitching in a bit and a husband who is willing to help pay for more of my education expenses and fully supportive of my endeavor. It is fairly accurate to say that I will be pretty nervous until I get that acceptance letter.

So, here's to crossing my fingers and hoping the essay that took me two weeks to pull together 750 words doesn't completely suck.

I have no doubt you'll be accepted.
